The ram down off-set is the point at which the Xcelestep system causes the cutting press ram to begin the cutting stroke. This point is automatically calculated back from the end of the feed. This feature allows the operator to adjust the system so that the cutting die contacts the material to be cut at exactly the point at which the feed comes to a stop. With traditional systems, the feed stops and then the ram comes down to make a cut. Eliminating this wasted time can increase production up to an extra 10%.
